Praia da Rocha is a popular beach in Portugal's Algarve region. The town centre is lively, if not a little tacky, and being a resort town, it gets very busy in summer as locals and travellers flock to southern Portugal's warm waters. If you want a cultural experience, this probably isn't your place.
The coastline shows off Portugal's famous yellow cliffs. You can walk along these if you head west (go east and you'll run into the Arade River). Some of the photos below were taken on this walk.
Praia da Rocha is the beach town of Portimão, which is 3 kilometres inland. Sometimes people will say they're going to Portimão, when really they're referring to Praia da Rocha.
