Santa Maria da Feira is a Portuguese village located 35 kilometres south of Porto. It's most famous for its annual medieval fair, Viagem Medieval a Santa Maria da Feira, when the whole town steps back in time with jousting tournaments, spit roasts and artisan demonstrations. Similar festivals take place in a number of towns around the country, but Santa Maria da Feira has the largest medieval fair in Portugal and is a great experience for the whole family.
The medieval journey usually runs over ten days around July/August.
A clunky regional train connects Santa Maria da Feira to Espinho.
