The first time I went to Nazaré, 130 kilometres north of Lisbon, I feel in love with the place. Not only is it a Guinness World Record-holding town as the place the biggest wave in the world has ever been surfed, it also upholds traditions not found elsewhere in Portugal, has a great vibe and offers seriously amazing views from its upper town.
I wrote and photographed a story about Nazaré for Australia's national newspaper, The Australian, and you can read the article here for a rundown of what to see and do.
If I stumble upon anything I think is worth checking out in Portugal you'll find it here. I've also included links to articles I've written about Portugal for national and international publications.
